Today we honor Mothers. I think of mine every day. She still exists in every choice I make. Living in my heart in every little way I affect the world. As we walk this path of uncertainty together one thing remains constant, the love and respect we have for our Mothers and caregivers.
May the sun rise gently for those of us living this day in the light of remembrance. So many of us miss our Mothers and every day we are reminded of what once was. Some of us struggle with the loss of our children or a dream of the child that hasn’t come. May the waves of grief fall softly upon you as you learn to move through them and give yourself kindness as you process the feelings you need to feel. I hope those waves will begin to feel more like a reminder of the depth of the love you have to give and you will extend that love to yourself today and always. I see you. I am you. I admire your bravery. May today be a reminder of your courage and determination to survive.
Mother’s day is also a celebration of life. I think of all the Mothers doing the best they can, living in a world which rarely sees their importance. So many are walking this path alone. Mothers who battle depression yet force a smile every day. Women struggle with teaching their children what is right while being surrounded by danger and stifled by oppression. Those struggling to muddle through the pain in the world and wanting desperately to help it heal. This life is such a beautiful dance of complexity and fragility. A world where people have so many opinions about how parenting should be done and no clue about what those parents are going through. Each one is as important as the other. Different yet uniquely suited to be a piece in the puzzle of humanity.
Today my Mother’s day card is dedicated to all Mothers and caregivers. Never forget your worth. Be kind to yourself. Humanity exists because of the love and care we give each other. No great accomplishment could be made without the creative powers and sacrifice required to raise the children responsible. The body of a woman made this world possible, what an amazing gift to give the world when we choose to become Mothers. How miraculous it is to be given this sacred choice. Though the world may not recognize our power, Moms rule the world in silence, one child at a time. Each choice shaping a small mind. Imperfections amplified by our own impossible expectations. We are beautiful and perfect in our failings because without failure we could not grow. Our growth is reflected in the eyes of a child, who makes the world a better place.
Today celebrate your failures. Love yourself and know you have power. All you give to the world can be measured in the heart. You are the beautiful creative power of life. We can support each other through offering one another unconditional love and friendship. The kind a Mother knows best. Happy Mother’s day to every Mom on the planet.
